One of the greatest Persian mystic, Sufi poets of 13th Century AD. He was born in Hamedan and was educated there in literature and the sciences of the time. He started travelling to other countries from the age of eighteen. In Multan (then in India, and now in Pakistan) he studied under Sheikh Baha-od-Din Zakkaria one of the greatest Sufi masters. In Konya (ancient Iconian, now in Turkey), he attended the lectures of Sheikh Sadr-od-Din of Konya who was one of the followers of Ibn-al-Arabi the famous Sufi poet. He wrote his book entitled Lama-at (Illuminations) under the influence of Ibn-al-Arabi's Fusus al-Hikam (The Gems of Wisdom). His travels then took him to Egypt and Syria, and he died there. He was buried near Ibn-al-Arabi's tomb in Damascus. His most famous poems are his ghazals, which are mystical love poems and Ushshaq-Nameh (The Song of Lovers).
